Orofacial Myology

Craniofascial Orofacial Myology is a specialised professional discipline that studies and educates the resting postures and the functional patterns of the muscles in the orofacial (mouth and facial) complex.  The functional patterns and resting postures of the complex may disrupt normal dental and skeletal development which may also influence full body posture.

Postural and functional patterns involving the lips and tongue are associated with the development of the cranial (skull) bones and dentition, especially the eruption patterns and/or alignment of the teeth and jaws, therefore any dysfunction of patterns and/or posture may potentially result in dental malocclusion (misalignment), imbalance in the cranial bones and subsequent effect on full body posture and cosmetic problems.

MyoDynamics is dedicated to bringing awareness of this profession to the forefront of not only healthcare professionals but also the general public.
